Reedholm Systems: WBG Collaboration with Piner Research Group of Texas State University
July 17, 2018 Georgetown, TX – Reedholm Systems announces, effective immediately, that the Company has formally engaged with The Piner Research Group (located on the Texas State University Campus) to develop reliability methods and standards for production test of WBG devices (wide band gap) as well as to provide technical consulting services to Reedholm Systems.
The parties recognize the unique needs and challenges faced by WBG device manufacturers and Reedholm Systems‘ need to refine its measurement instrumentation and long-term reliability stress capabilities specifically for the GaN, SiC, GaN on Si, and other WBG devices & materials. The terms of the Agreement with The Piner Research Group also call for Reedholm Systems to install one of its industry leading 10kV/50A WBG Parametric Test Systems for process control and die sort measurements of WBG devices. The system can also be extended for reliability stress test requirements for HTOL, HTRB, and HTGB requirements (depicted below) for WBG research projects undertaken by Reedholm Systems personnel, the Piner Research Group and Texas State University PhD students.
About Reedholm Systems
Since 1983, Reedholm is one of the pioneers of production parametric test. Located in Georgetown, just up the road from Austin TX, Reedholm Systems provides parametric and reliability test systems, including systems designed for high power wide band gap requirements.
About Piner Research Group
Dr. Piner’s group is principally focused on research and technology development in the growth and characterization, semiconductor fabrication, and performance optimization and reliability of wide bandgap materials for solid-state device applications. Prior to joining Texas State University, Dr. Piner spent a decade as the Director of Advanced
Technology for Nitronex, a leading WBG device manufacturer. He also worked as a research engineer and project manager at ATMI specializing in III-V Nitride epitaxial processes.
About Texas State University Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization Program
Texas State University has made materials science and engineering research, education and commercialization a priority. Emerging advanced materials have the potential to dramatically affect all segments of the economy. Texas State recognizes the need to develop the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs to drive economic development, not only in Central Texas, but across the United States, moving new materials quickly into solutions needed today.

Reedholm Systems Joint Marketing Agreement with STAr Technologies
October 6, 2017 Georgetown, TX – Reedholm Systems announces effective immediately that the Company has signed a joint marketing and support agreement with STAr Technologies. The intent of the agreement is to offer customers a turn-key offering comprised of a test system, prober/handler, and load board/probe card, with characterized, assured performance of all three items. The combined offerings shall be under the Reedholm Systems brand, regardless of where the products are sold for activities such as:
- Process control monitoring (PCM)
- Wafer level die sort
- Packaged part/final test
- Reliability (packaged and wafer level)
For the burgeoning Wide Band Gap power device marketplace, customers are demanding newly designed products with safety requirements in mind for applications that involve measurements of 10kV and 50A of current, or more. Reedholm and STAr strive to evolve the supply of such tools on a broader basis and share details about evolving customer needs.
Reedholm’s products include a series of parametric test systems (RI-40, RI-75, RI-EG) that are used for the gamut of dc parametric test requirements. The latest system – the Reedholm RI-10kV/50A model – addresses both vertical and lateral GaN and SiC device test requirements. STAr’s offerings include the Virgo series parametric and reliability probe cards, Aries series wafer-sort / function tests probe cards, and the Magic A-series, P-series and X-series Probe Station.
STAr will have primary market responsibility in the Pacific Rim markets (Taiwan, Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, along with access to Thailand and Philippines), while Reedholm will have primary responsibility for North American markets. The parties will work together to address how to best serve customers in Europe and markets outside of North America and the Pacific Rim.

Sept-29, 2016, Georgetown, TX – Reedholm Systems announces that the Company has expanded its Wide Band Gap (WBG) test systems line with the addition of selected probe stations, test fixtures, thermal systems, software, and in-line metrology from third party suppliers providing ‘one stop-shopping’ to satisfy power semiconductor test system requirements. Reedholm Systems also announces the appointment of E-Test Reps as its worldwide sales and technical support representative providing a full range of pre and post-sales support and service.
About the WBG Market
The power semiconductor market is expected to grow by $6B in the next 5 to 7 years, with more than $2B of this growth to come directly from WBG devices. The use of SiC and GaN materials (and others) is leading the way to market growth through vastly greater device efficiency. Through the Power America initiative, the US Government is providing grant funding, enabling the purchase of $100MM or more in fab and related test tools, driving production and achieving volume in the WBG market.
